The Sindh government has taken an important and decisive step to modernize the transport system in the province by issuing orders to completely digitize all route permits and vehicle fitness certificates across the province.
The Department of Transport and Mass Transit, Government of Sindh, has set June 30, 2026, as the deadline for the complete digitization of route permits and fitness certificates. In this regard, Senior Minister of Sindh and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stated that the Department of Transport and Mass Transit has issued formal instructions to all relevant institutions, setting June 30, 2026, as the final date for this process. He added that the transport regulatory system is being made fully automated and digital to ensure easy and secure document verification.
In a statement, he said that all route permits and fitness certificates of commercial vehicles across the province are being transferred to a digital system, and verifiable, online-accessible documents will be provided to every vehicle owner and transporter.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon further stated that authorities have been directed to complete this process immediately within their respective jurisdictions. He also directed that all transporters be informed in time so they can begin the registration process.
He added that field offices have been instructed to complete 1,000 entries daily. Under the new orders, all manual route permits and fitness certificates will be considered invalid after June 30, 2026. Only digital documents will be accepted after the deadline, and action will be taken against non-compliant vehicles.
He said that the Sindh government is promoting the use of modern technology in the transport sector. Digitization will also bring convenience for citizens and transporters and help discourage fraud.
