Lahore mother sent on remand in case of alleged killing of three children

Published on: April 24, 2026 4:45 PM

A court in Lahore has granted a five-day physical remand of a woman accused of killing her three children in a tragic incident that has shocked the city and sparked widespread concern over domestic violence.

The suspect, a resident of Shah Jamal Colony, was presented before a judicial magistrate by police investigators, who sought a 14-day remand to collect forensic evidence and complete the investigation. However, the court approved a shorter five-day custody period for further questioning and evidence recovery.

According to police, the incident took place earlier this week at a multi-storey residential building, where the bodies of three children were discovered with fatal injuries. Authorities initially suspected foul play, and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of their mother.

Law enforcement officials stated that the accused had allegedly confessed during interrogation, linking the crime to ongoing domestic disputes with her husband. She reportedly told investigators that her relationship had deteriorated over the past months, contributing to emotional distress.

Senior police officials said the woman claimed she had been under severe mental pressure and had considered taking her own life before the incident, but abandoned the idea. The case is being investigated from multiple angles, including psychological evaluation, forensic analysis, and verification of her statement.

Police have also confirmed that DNA testing, polygraph examination, and other medical assessments will be conducted as part of the investigation process to establish the facts surrounding the case.

The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about family conflict, mental health support, and domestic safety in urban households. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and further evidence will determine the legal direction of the case.

Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is completed and all forensic findings are reviewed by the court.
