Kuwait has officially revoked the citizenship of multiple foreign nationals and their dependents following a new government decree, according to the country’s official gazette, Kuwait Al-Youm.

The cabinet resolution, numbered 2026/200, confirmed that the citizenship of four individuals, along with others who had obtained nationality through them, has been cancelled. Authorities stated that the decision was made under Kuwait’s citizenship law (Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959), which allows revocation of nationality if it is proven that citizenship was obtained through fraud, false statements, or forged documents.

Officials did not immediately disclose the identities of those affected, but emphasized that the action is part of ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of the country’s nationality system. The law grants authorities the power to withdraw citizenship in cases involving deception during the naturalisation process.
In a separate administrative move, the government also issued Decree No. 59/2026, dissolving the Government Performance Monitoring Agency (GPMA), which was originally established under a 2007 decree. Its responsibilities have now been transferred to the General Secretariat of the Cabinet.
Under the new arrangement, the Cabinet has been given authority to assign these functions to other public institutions if necessary. The restructuring is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and streamlining oversight mechanisms within government bodies.
As part of the transition, permanent employees of the dissolved agency will be transferred to the Civil Service Commission (CSC), where they will retain their existing grades and salaries while being reassigned to other government departments.
However, the decree also stipulates that all temporary and contract-based employees of the agency will have their services terminated with immediate effect.
