The United States has taken control of an Iranian-flagged vessel after intercepting it in regional waters, according to the US Central Command (Centcom), which also released footage of the operation.

In an official statement, Centcom confirmed that US Marines boarded and seized the ship, bringing it under American control. The vessel, identified as “MV Toskha,” is a large container ship reportedly sailing under the Iranian flag. Maritime tracking data indicated that the ship had significantly slowed down prior to the interception, with its speed recorded at around 1.2 knots.
US officials stated that the vessel was stopped on suspicion of violating an ongoing naval blockade in the region. According to details shared by American authorities, the ship was intercepted in the Gulf of Oman by a US Navy guided-missile destroyer. The crew was issued warnings to halt, but reportedly failed to comply.

Following the lack of response, US forces carried out a targeted action to disable the vessel. Officials said the ship’s engine room was struck to bring it to a stop, after which US Marines boarded and secured it. The vessel is now in US custody, and authorities are examining its cargo.
US President Donald Trump earlier claimed that the ship had attempted to breach restrictions imposed as part of maritime security operations. He described the seizure as a necessary step to enforce the blockade and ensure compliance.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region, particularly around key shipping routes. The Gulf of Oman and nearby waterways have remained strategically sensitive due to ongoing geopolitical friction and concerns over maritime security.
