DC Islamabad appeals for citizen support to uphold law

Published on: April 20, 2026 9:59 AM

The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad on Sunday appealed residents to cooperate with security agencies during the prevailing situation and to remain updated through official channels regarding any further announcements, as all heavy and public transport services in the federal capital remain suspended until further notice.

In a message issued on X (formerly Twitter) and other media platforms, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon called upon the citizens to extend full cooperation to security authorities amid the ongoing situation. He stressed that public support was essential for maintaining peace and ensuring law and order across the federal capital.

He further stated that Islamabad Police, along with Rangers and the Frontier Corps (FC), would be deployed under the security plan as part of coordinated arrangements. These agencies will work in close coordination with other law enforcement bodies to establish joint checkpoints at key locations throughout the city, he said.

“Traffic police have also been deployed at various points across Islamabad to facilitate citizens and ensure the smooth flow of traffic. Their presence is aimed at assisting commuters, maintaining discipline on roads, and managing congestion on busy routes. They are actively regulating traffic at key locations, providing guidance to commuters, and working to reduce congestion in order to minimize inconvenience to the public”.

The DC said that citizens should demonstrate responsible conduct and extend full cooperation to law enforcement agencies to ensure the effective implementation of security measures and to uphold the dignity of the city during this period. Residents are urged to follow official instructions, support the efforts of security personnel, and contribute to maintaining order, reflecting civic responsibility and respect for the image of the federal capital, he said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza visited the Red Zone and various duty points across the capital to review security arrangements, as the area was sealed in view of the arrival of foreign delegations.

An official told APP on Sunday that the SSP Qazi conducted a detailed inspection of security measures and checked deployment at different duty points.

He directed officers to perform their duties with professionalism and remain fully alert to ensure effective security. Qazi emphasized strict monitoring and coordination among personnel to handle any situation.

He added that the Red Zone had been sealed and additional security measures were in place due to the movement of foreign guests. The SSP instructed officers to ensure courteous behavior with citizens while maintaining strict security protocols.
