Sindh to expand Pink Scooty Scheme for women to Hyderabad

Published on: April 19, 2026 11:09 AM

The Sindh government has announced that, following the successful launch in Sukkur, Pink Scooties will soon be distributed in Hyderabad as well.

Senior Sindh Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that after Sukkur, women in Hyderabad will also benefit from this facility. He added that women are not only being provided with free scooties but are also being given driving licenses, helmets, and regular training.

In a statement, he said that empowering women and building their self-confidence is a top priority of the Sindh government.

He further said that after Sukkur and Shikarpur, the network of the People’s Bus Service is being expanded, and it will soon be launched on the Khairpur-Rohri and Khairpur-Ranipur routes.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that preparations are underway to start bus services on the Kohsar Haider Chowk and Hyderabad-Tando Allahyar routes in Hyderabad. He said that the aim of these projects is to provide affordable, quality, and comfortable travel facilities to the public, while the Sindh government continues to introduce measures that directly benefit the common people, especially women, youth, and the working class.

China-made bus service expands mobility with Shikarpur-Sukkur launch

The Sindh provincial government launched a new route for the People’s Bus Service between Shikarpur and Sukkur, marking a significant step in the expansion of its modern transport network. The service, featuring Chinese-built buses, was inaugurated by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon as a “gift for the people” of the region, Gwadar Pro reported.

At the inauguration ceremony, Memon emphasized that the initiative reflects the strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation in the field of urban mobility and public services. He highlighted that the fleet, which is manufactured using Chinese technology, offers safe, air-conditioned, and affordable transportation options for residents. “This service belongs to the people, and it is their responsibility to protect it,” Memon stated, urging citizens to ensure its proper usage and upkeep.

The newly launched route, spanning approximately 33 kilometers via Lakhi Ghulam Shah, is part of Sindh’s broader efforts to modernize its transport infrastructure through international collaborations, particularly with China.

This service aims to address long-standing transportation challenges in the region by offering environmentally efficient and comfortable commuting alternatives. In an effort to make the service more accessible, the Sindh government will subsidize 50 percent of the fare, benefiting low- and middle-income commuters while promoting sustainable urban mobility practices inspired by Chinese transport models.

Memon also highlighted that under the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), headed by Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, there is a continued commitment to expanding such services across Sindh.
