Russia has accused Ukraine of violating a temporary ceasefire and raised concerns over the detention of a Russian child in Mexico. The allegations were made by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. The development is significant as it adds further strain to already tense Russia-Ukraine relations.
Zakharova claimed Ukrainian forces breached the Easter ceasefire more than 6,000 times. She said the truce was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin and was intended to reduce hostilities. Moreover, she argued that Ukraine failed to show commitment to peace.

She also criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying there was no clear directive to enforce the ceasefire. According to her, this reflected a lack of serious intent from Kyiv. Additionally, Russia claimed it continues to monitor compliance closely.
Separately, Moscow raised concerns with Mexico over the alleged detention of a Russian minor. The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Mexican ambassador to address the issue. Furthermore, it demanded consular access and the child’s return.

Russia said it remains in contact with officials handling children’s rights and continues diplomatic engagement on the matter. However, Ukraine has not responded to the latest allegations. Analysts say such disputes further complicate already fragile diplomatic conditions.
