Environmental specialists say that during certain seasons, bees migrate in large groups in a behaviour known as swarming. This occurs when a colony outgrows its hive, prompting the queen bee to move along with a large number of worker bees to establish a new colony elsewhere.
Authorities in Israel advised residents and business owners to keep doors and windows closed and avoid disturbing the swarms to minimise the risk of stings or injuries. In some reports, a swarm was said to have gathered near a military aircraft, temporarily affecting operations, although no damage or casualties were confirmed.
Experts emphasised that while such swarms can appear alarming, they are generally non-aggressive unless provoked. They also highlighted the ecological importance of bees, noting their vital role in pollination and maintaining biodiversity.
