Govt encouraging digital education to cut school dropout ratio: Nasir Shah

Published on: April 17, 2026 1:55 AM

Sindh Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, held a meeting with a high-level delegation from Teach The World Foundation.

The meeting focused on modern reforms in the education sector, expansion of digital learning programs, and ensuring access to quality education in underprivileged and remote areas. The delegation included President Arshad Anees, Vice President Strategic Relationships Farhan Hassan, and Chief of Staff Kazim Mousavi. The delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on progress under the Accelerated Digital Learning Program being implemented in collaboration with the Sindh Education Foundation under the supervision of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Over the past two years, 160 digital micro-schools have been established across various districts of Sindh, bringing more than 25,000 out-of-school children into the education system. The target is to expand this number to 350 micro-schools by the end of the current year. The briefing further highlighted that the digital micro-school model is low-cost, efficient, and rapidly scalable, making it an effective solution for delivering education in underserved areas. Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah appreciated the foundation’s efforts and stated that alongside traditional education systems, adopting digital models has become a necessity. He emphasized that such approaches can play a key role in reintegrating a large number of out-of-school children into formal education.

He also offered to personally sponsor two micro-schools in Karachi, calling it a practical step towards promoting education. Furthermore, he assured full government support, facilitation, and institutional assistance for establishing additional micro-schools in Sukkur and other districts. The Minister stressed that the Government of Sindh aims to strengthen public-private partnerships in education, not only to expand access but also to improve the quality of education through serious and sustained efforts. It was also agreed during the meeting to further expand digital learning programs to areas where traditional educational infrastructure is weak or non-existent, ensuring that the maximum number of children can receive education.
