IHC extends stay order against demolition of houses in Saidpur Village

Published on: April 15, 2026 8:47 AM

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended its stay order restraining the Capital Development Authority (CDA) from demolishing houses in Saidpur Village until April 21. Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the petitions filed by over 128 applicants seeking protection against the eviction and demolition of their residential properties in the historic village. Advocates Raja Rizwan Abbasi, Ansar Kayani, and others appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioners.

During the proceedings, Justice Minhas directed all parties to come fully prepared with their final arguments on the next hearing. “We will hear all the lawyers on the next date and decide the case on merit,” the court observed.

A noteworthy exchange took place between the bench and Advocate Raja Rizwan Abbasi. The counsel requested the court to maintain the stay order, assuring that he would appear with full preparation. The judge remarked, “Raja Sahib, kindly also consider what mechanism would be in place if they are evicted later on.” The court assured the petitioners that the stay order against demolition would remain in force. “Our stay order will remain. You come fully prepared on the next hearing,” Justice Inam Ameen Minhas stated. Subsequently, the court adjourned further proceedings until April 21, directing all counsel to be ready with their final arguments on that date.
