The chief minister also acknowledged the historic role of Benazir Bhutto in initiating polio eradication efforts in Pakistan, noting that she had laid the foundation of the campaign during her tenure as prime minister. He expressed gratitude for the continued support of Asifa Bhutto Zardari in advancing the cause.
The campaign, running from April 13 to 19, aims to administer polio drops to approximately 10.6 million children under the age of five across Sindh. In addition, around 9.4 million children will receive Vitamin A supplements to strengthen immunity and overall health.
To ensure smooth implementation, authorities have deployed around 83,000 health workers and 24,000 police personnel across the province. The security and logistical arrangements are intended to facilitate safe and efficient vaccination efforts in both urban and remote areas.
Murad Ali Shah urged parents, educational institutions, and the media to fully cooperate with vaccination teams, emphasizing that community support is vital for the success of the campaign. He noted that while nine polio cases were reported last year, only one case has been recorded so far this year, indicating progress.
