NDMA warns of nationwide rain spell

Published on: April 11, 2026 7:34 PM

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a rain alert across several northern regions from April 12 to 17. The warning matters as severe weather may disrupt travel and damage infrastructure. The advisory affects residents in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to NDMA, intermittent rain is expected with thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms. Several cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Murree, may receive rainfall. Moreover, authorities warned that lightning and dust storms could impact daily life. Therefore, citizens must stay alert and follow safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, upper regions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and mountainous areas may also witness snowfall during the forecast period. Districts like Swat, Chitral, and Abbottabad are likely to experience intense weather conditions. Furthermore, continuous rain in hilly areas may increase the risk of landslides. This situation could disrupt transport and create safety hazards.

In contrast, Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry. Temperatures may rise slightly, especially in Karachi, where hot weather will persist. However, officials said heatwave conditions are unlikely due to moderate humidity levels. Sea breezes are also expected to provide some relief.

The NDMA warned that strong winds and rainfall could damage weak structures, trees, and power lines. Roads may become slippery, causing traffic disruptions and accidents. Authorities advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and drive carefully. Overall, the public has been urged to follow official advisories and take precautionary measures.
