
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described the ongoing diplomatic engagement in Islamabad following a temporary ceasefire between the United States (US) and Iran as a “historic opportunity” and a moment of pride for Pakistan and the wider Islamic world.

In his address to the nation, the prime minister said that the regional atmosphere in the Gulf had shifted from conflict to dialogue, with talks now focusing on peace rather than war. He emphasized that while the temporary ceasefire represents an important step forward, the more difficult task lies ahead in achieving a durable and comprehensive peace agreement through sustained negotiations.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that both Iranian and US leadership are arriving in Islamabad in response to Pakistan’s invitation for talks aimed at resolving tensions. He said Pakistan would make every possible effort to ensure the success of the negotiations, adding that successful diplomacy could save countless innocent lives.
The prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating the process, crediting senior leadership for their efforts. He praised the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with the country’s top military leadership, including Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir, for what he described as tireless work toward peace.
He said the efforts of the leadership in supporting dialogue and reducing tensions would be remembered as a significant contribution to regional stability. The prime minister added that Pakistan’s role in hosting and facilitating the talks reflects its commitment to peace and constructive engagement on the global stage.
