In her emotional message, Sheehan said Patrick spent his final days under the care of a dedicated medical team after being admitted to the hospice 10 days prior to his death. She described his passing as peaceful and expressed deep sorrow at the loss.

Motor neuron disease is a group of progressive neurological disorders that affect nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. Over time, the condition leads to muscle weakness and impacts essential functions such as movement, breathing, and speech.

Despite his illness, Patrick was remembered as a vibrant and inspiring individual. His wife highlighted his enduring positivity, describing him as someone who brought joy and energy to those around him. She noted that his influence extended beyond his battle with illness, touching the lives of many throughout his life.

Sheehan also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported them during the difficult years following his diagnosis. She shared a quote by Brendan Behan that Patrick cherished, encouraging people to focus on simple joys such as eating, drinking, and loving.
