
Popular Indian rapper Badshah recently appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) regarding his controversial Haryanvi song Tateeree. The hearing was convened after the NCW issued a summons citing alleged obscenity and content that allegedly harmed the dignity of women in India.

Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar presided over the proceedings, emphasizing the need for accountability in the entertainment industry when content impacts societal norms and women’s dignity. Badshah offered an unconditional apology during the session and assured the commission that he would never engage in such vulgar activity again.

In a pledge to promote social welfare, Badshah committed to sponsoring the education of fifty girls from economically weaker sections. He also announced plans to release a new song centered on women’s empowerment within the next four months. “I will work for the upliftment of women and society. I will present a positive song on women’s empowerment and will not be involved in any such activity in future,” he told officials.
The hearing also included the presence of directors Joban Sandhu and Mahavir Singh, along with producer Hiten, who submitted written apologies on behalf of their teams.
