In a statement shared on social media, the premier expressed satisfaction over what he described as a “wise and positive development,” announcing that both Iran and the United States, along with their allies, had agreed to a ceasefire across all areas of conflict, including Lebanon and other regions. Sharif welcomed the move and thanked the leadership of both countries for their role in de-escalating tensions. He added that Pakistan had extended invitations to both sides to participate in further negotiations scheduled for April 10 in Islamabad. The talks are expected to focus on reaching a comprehensive and lasting agreement to address outstanding disputes.
The prime minister voiced hope that the “Islamabad talks” would pave the way for sustainable peace and stability in the region. He also indicated that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
The development follows remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said he had agreed to pause planned military action against Iran for two weeks after discussions with Pakistani leadership, including Prime Minister Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to Trump, the decision was also contingent upon Iran agreeing to ensure the immediate and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route.
The proposed Islamabad dialogue is being seen as a significant diplomatic effort to reduce tensions and promote regional peace.
