High-risk US military rescue mission in Iran reveals extraordinary tactics

Missing Airman Three Word Radio Message First Felt Like...': Trump on 'Cinematic' Rescue Mission in Iran | Times Now

A high-risk US military rescue mission deep inside Iran has revealed extraordinary tactics, including deception operations, electronic jamming and targeted strikes, as American forces worked to extract a stranded airman amid escalating conflict.

According to officials, US special operations troops infiltrated rugged terrain south of Tehran under cover of darkness, reaching a downed weapons specialist who had ejected from an F-15E Strike Eagle after it was hit by Iranian air defences over Isfahan. The airman had taken shelter in a remote hillside crevice and successfully established contact with US forces, confirming his identity to avoid a potential trap.

The rescue initially progressed smoothly but quickly turned perilous when two MC-130 aircraft suffered mechanical failure, leaving nearly 100 troops at risk of being stranded behind enemy lines. Commanders then authorised additional aircraft to enter Iranian airspace, executing a phased extraction under tense conditions.

To prevent sensitive equipment from falling into Iranian hands, US forces destroyed the disabled aircraft and several helicopters on the ground before departure. Meanwhile, the Central Intelligence Agency reportedly ran a deception campaign, spreading misinformation to confuse Iranian forces about the airman’s location.

US military planners also jammed local communications and bombed key access routes to limit enemy movement near the extraction zone. Smaller turboprop aircraft were later used to complete the evacuation.

The operation comes amid a broader conflict that has seen multiple US aircraft targeted by Iranian forces. Despite the risks, the successful rescue was described by Donald Trump as one of the most daring missions in US history, highlighting both the complexity of the battlefield and the continuing intensity of the confrontation.
