On the directions of Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial and under the supervision of Member (TPS), Ms. Tehmina Aamer, Taxpayers’ Services Wing, as part of its ongoing Tax Awareness and Outreach Campaign, conducted a Tax Awareness Session at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) to promote awareness regarding tax obligations, legal compliance, and taxpayer facilitation initiatives.
The session was led by FBR delegation comprising Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary (Tax Education & Facilitation), Mr. Abdul Rehman, Second Secretary (Tax Facilitation), and other officials of the Taxpayers’ Services Wing. On behalf of RCCI, the event was attended by Mr. Fahad Barlas, Vice President RCCI, Madam Gull Zeba, and other executive members of the Chamber.
During the session, the FBR team gave a comprehensive presentation on the Board’s mandate, taxpayer services and recent digital reforms aimed at simplifying compliance and improving transparency in tax administration. Key initiatives highlighted during the presentation included Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Track & Trace System, Digital Invoicing, Faceless Customs System, Cargo Tracking System, Direct Port Delivery System, Reward & Rating System, and the use of Video Analytics for production monitoring. The participants were informed that Video Analytics has already been successfully deployed in the sugar and cement sectors and is presently being extended to the textile sector, reflecting FBR’s commitment to data-driven enforcement and facilitation.
The outreach session emphasized that these reforms are playing a vital role in broadening the tax base, strengthening taxpayer confidence, and reinforcing FBR’s image as a transparent, modern and taxpayer-friendly institution.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Fahad Barlas, Vice President RCCI, appreciated FBR’s outreach efforts and highlighted the importance of tax collection for national economic development. He also shared the concerns of the business community and presented practical proposals to address tax-related challenges faced by traders and industry. The business community showed keen interest in the awareness session and raised several tax-related queries, which were addressed comprehensively by the FBR team. The participants appreciated FBR’s continued efforts to promote voluntary compliance, improve taxpayer facilitation and promote a positive perception of the institution among the business community. The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session followed by the exchange of souvenirs between representatives of FBR and RCCI.
