Maryam Aurangzeb has assured the public will get relief as global conditions improve

Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has assured the public that relief will be provided as global economic conditions improve, following a sharp increase in petroleum prices in Pakistan.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Aurangzeb acknowledged the recent hike in fuel prices but stressed that the government remains committed to supporting citizens during challenging times. She said that relief measures would be introduced with the same determination and strategy once the international situation stabilises.

Praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, she said he had successfully prevented the burden of rising global oil prices from being passed on to the public for an entire month. She described this as a reflection of responsible leadership, effective strategy, and strong fiscal management.

Aurangzeb further noted that even when the price increase became unavoidable, the government chose not to shift the full burden onto the public. Instead, it introduced targeted subsidies aimed at protecting vulnerable segments of society. She said this approach demonstrates a leadership that does not abandon its people in difficult circumstances but strives to provide maximum possible support.

The minister also expressed gratitude that the country is being led by leadership that understands public hardships and takes practical steps to address them. She congratulated the prime minister for bringing together federal units and political leadership across the country during a time of crisis, while also appreciating the role of provincial chief ministers.

She emphasised the importance of national unity in overcoming economic challenges and reiterated that the government would continue to adopt balanced policies to ease the impact of inflation.
