Cardi B responds to Beyoncé and Rihanna ‘competition’ talk

Cardi B is stepping into the beauty world with confidence, but not competition.

The rapper, 33, is set to launch her new haircare brand, Grow-Good Beauty, on April 15 and made it clear that she is not concerned about joining an already crowded celebrity beauty market that includes names like Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Speaking on Aspire with Emma Grede, Cardi brushed off suggestions of rivalry. When asked about entering a “saturated” industry alongside brands like Beyoncé’s Cécred and Rihanna’s Fenty, she quickly responded, “It’s not even about competition. It’s about what’s going to have your hair growing.”

Rather than positioning herself against other celebrity founders, Cardi showed support for her peers, even praising Beyoncé’s line. “It’s very f-king good,” she said, adding that her comments came “with confidence.”

The Grammy-winning artist also used the moment to highlight her inclusive philosophy around haircare.

“There’s no such thing as bad hair, and ‘good’ hair don’t mean a certain texture. All hair is good,” she added.

Grow-Good Beauty appears to be a natural extension of Cardi’s long-shared personal routines. During the pandemic in 2020, she went viral for revealing her DIY hair mask made from kitchen staples like avocado, eggs, and mayonnaise. She later shared another unconventional tip in 2022, saying she washes her hair with boiled onion water.
