Tehran, March 30, 2026: Iran has welcomed peace initiatives by regional countries, highlighting the importance of realistic expectations for ongoing conflicts. The statement affects regional diplomacy and US-Iran relations. Iranian citizens abroad and the Middle East are directly impacted by these developments.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ebrahim Baghai said no direct talks have occurred with the United States, and communications are being exchanged only through intermediaries. He emphasized that most proposals presented to Iran are “unrealistic, unreasonable, and excessive,” signaling Tehran’s cautious stance on negotiations.

Baghai stressed that Iran will continue protecting its citizens globally and expects the United Arab Emirates to act with foresight in dealing with Iranian nationals. He warned against measures that could escalate tensions unnecessarily.
Regarding Lebanon, Baghai confirmed Iran’s ambassador in Beirut will continue his official duties. He also dismissed claims linking the Ukraine conflict to a US-Israel war against Iran, calling such connections a “dangerous misunderstanding” that could complicate regional stability.

The remarks followed a meeting in Islamabad where foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan discussed mediation efforts to reduce Middle East tensions. Tehran described the initiatives as “welcome,” while emphasizing careful, practical evaluation of proposals.
