Islamabad hosts crucial regional talks to ease Iran war tensions

Published on: March 29, 2026 12:23 PM

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Türkiye’s top diplomat Hakan Fidan arrived in Islamabad ahead of a key regional meeting aimed at easing tensions surrounding the ongoing Iran conflict. The visit highlights Pakistan’s growing diplomatic efforts to bring regional players together and encourage dialogue to prevent further escalation across the Middle East.

According to officials, the visiting foreign ministers will hold detailed consultations on regional security, diplomatic coordination and possible steps to reduce tensions linked to the ongoing war. The discussions are expected to explore practical diplomatic pathways that could help calm the situation and avoid a wider conflict affecting several countries in the region.

The upcoming meeting will bring together senior diplomats from four major countries, including Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, for high-level consultations. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will chair the talks, which aim to strengthen coordination among regional partners and promote collective diplomatic engagement.

During the visit, the Egyptian foreign minister is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. Officials say the trip reflects the close and longstanding ties between Pakistan and Egypt while also highlighting ongoing cooperation on political and strategic matters.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the rising tensions in the region. During the conversation, Pakistan expressed solidarity with Iran and strongly condemned recent attacks targeting civilian installations and infrastructure.

Furthermore, Pakistani leadership emphasized continued diplomatic outreach with international partners, including the United States and Gulf countries, to create conditions for dialogue and negotiations. Officials believe the Islamabad meeting could become an important step toward reducing tensions and encouraging peaceful solutions to the growing crisis.
