KP CM directs inclusion of model schools, colleges in ADP 2026-27

A meeting of Annual Development Program (ADP) 2026-27 was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi here Saturday, directing that a plan be proposed for the establishment of model schools and colleges across the province.

He also instructed that steps should be taken to provide scholarships for talented students of the province to study at internationally renowned universities.

The chief minister said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will bear the educational expenses of talented students at top international institutions.

“There is immense talent among the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who need to be provided with opportunities. Youth are our valuable asset and we are investing heavily in them,” he said.

He said the Annual Development Program 2026-27 will serve as a roadmap for the province’s comprehensive development.

In new development projects, he said that priority will be given to employment opportunities, education, health, and provision of basic facilities.

During the next fiscal year, 218 high-priority projects will be completed and 80% of funds will be released, while 20% to be allocated for new development projects, the briefing said.

A total of 39 new signature projects across various sectors have been proposed in the development program while Rs. 1,000 billion “Roshan Qabail” package for merged districts is included in next year’s development program.

Besides establishment of a Health City, the Ehsas Forest Program, and a Tribal Medical College are also part of the upcoming development program. Virtual classrooms, bag-free schools, and an artificial intelligence curriculum in schools are included in the next development program.

A tribal university and an integrated development package for Upper Chitral are also included in the ADP and expansion of the panahgah network, Zamung Kor network, and establishment of schools for special children are also included.

A self-employment scheme for persons with disabilities and the Khyber Safari Train are proposed in the next Annual Development Program.

Alaike, divisional expansion of BRT, completion of Safe-Cities projects, and establishment of a Cyber Security Operations Center are also proposed to be included in the ADP.
