
Punjab has prepared the preliminary development budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, totaling PKR 1,450 billion. The budget aims to fund key infrastructure and social projects, benefiting millions across the province. Citizens, businesses, and government agencies will be directly impacted by the proposed allocations and development plans.
The Planning and Development Board drafted the initial outline, which includes 1,824 schemes with a combined estimated cost of PKR 2,347 billion. Priority projects are expected to receive between PKR 580 and 780 billion to accelerate development across multiple sectors. Block allocations of up to PKR 200 billion have been proposed for the Chief Minister’s priority initiatives.

Transport remains a top focus, with PKR 303 billion proposed for roads, highways, and transit infrastructure. Clean water, model villages, and urban development programs are also included in the budget to improve public services. Officials say these projects will enhance citizens’ quality of life and support economic growth throughout Punjab.
Specific allocations include PKR 30 billion for model villages, PKR 42 billion for road rehabilitation, PKR 25 billion for clean water projects, and PKR 7 billion for Cantonment Boards. Additionally, PKR 200–250 billion is proposed under the Punjab Development Program to ensure timely project implementation and monitoring.

Lawmakers are expected to review and finalize the development budget in the coming weeks. Authorities aim to maintain transparency while addressing regional needs, infrastructure gaps, and public welfare priorities.
