Torrential rains disrupt daily life across Balochistan

Published on: March 27, 2026 1:16 AM

Heavy rains continued across Balochistan on Thursday, submerging several areas, damaging property, and claiming lives in multiple districts. According to the Meteorological Department, the recent downpour killed two people in Kech. The roof collapse incidents in Kohlu and Harnai left a girl and another person injured. Torrential rain and hail triggered flash floods in Khuzdar, Turbat, Kech, Noshki, and Panjgur, damaging mud houses and roads. In Quetta, continuous rainfall since Tuesday night disrupted the drainage system, blocking several nullahs and causing difficulties for residents. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has kept its teams on alert for any emergencies. In Mastung, intermittent rain prompted authorities to impose a ban on picnics at Ab-e-Gul, Ghulam Pardenaz, Amach, and other recreational and hilly areas. Residents were urged to avoid visiting these spots and follow safety precautions, with violators subject to legal action. The Meteorological Department forecast partly cloudy skies with chances of rain and thunderstorms in several districts, including Noshki, Mastung, Kalat, Surab, Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Sherani, and Bolan. Hail is also expected in some areas. Rainfall recorded over the past 24 hours includes 36mm in Pasni, 19mm in Wamra, and 11mm in Pishin, with light showers reported in Zhob and Quetta. The wet spell is expected to continue until March 29. Minimum temperatures recorded across the province were: Quetta and Kalat at 9°C, Ziarat 6°C, Zhob 10°C, Sibi 17°C, Turbat and Naukundi 20°C, and Gwadar and Jiwani at 22°C and 23°C, respectively.
