Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Super League, Salman Naseer, has said that strong Australia ties and new production upgrades will help in elevating the PSL. In an exclusive talk with Daily Times, Naseer welcomed the participation of a large number of Australian players in the PSL, saying it shows strong relationship of the PCB with Cricket Australia. “This will improve the quality of cricket. Players learning from each other and competing at a high level ultimately benefits the game,” he said.
The PSL CEO also promised a significantly upgraded viewing experience this season. He highlighted that fans would witness innovation in production, including the introduction of new studio formats and enhanced television coverage. According to Naseer, efforts are being made to improve broadcast quality and bring fresh elements to the presentation for the first time in PSL history. The CEO said that extensive consultations had been held with all stakeholders, including franchises and commercial partners, to ensure that fans remain at the center of the league’s planning. “We have discussed with all stakeholders that we must carry the fans along in one way or another,” he said.
Naseer revealed that all franchises-including the newer teams-were united in their stance that the tournament must go ahead as scheduled, even if it means playing without crowds or incurring financial losses. “Whether the league is held without spectators or involves financial loss, PSL must take place on time,” he stressed, adding that the broader national interest outweighs short-term concerns.
With uncertainty around stadium attendance, organizers are focusing heavily on digital engagement. Naseer noted that sponsors and partners have been aligned on strategies to keep audiences involved through interactive campaigns, rewards, and challenges. “We will continue to engage fans through different initiatives, ensuring they stay connected to the league,” he said.
Naseer clarified that any decision regarding fan in stadiums would strictly follow government directives. “We will act in accordance with government guidance, as they are better informed about the situation,” he explained, adding that efforts are ongoing to safely bring spectators back as soon as conditions allow.
Naseer issued a firm warning to players withdrawing from the league without valid reasons, confirming that disciplinary action is being taken. “Players leaving the PSL without justified reasons will face action,” he stated. Concluding his remarks, Naseer underscored the league’s role in demonstrating national solidarity during challenging times. He reiterated that while organizers aim to proceed swiftly, evolving circumstances will be taken into account. “We must play our part in national solidarity. As conditions improve, we will continue striving to deliver the best possible experience,” he said.
