The premier urged unity and harmony within the ranks of the Ummah and briefed the Crown Prince on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach aimed at de-escalation and resolving differences through dialogue. The Saudi leadership expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s peace efforts, with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination at all levels.
Separately, PM Shehbaz posted on X (formerly Twitter) offering Eid ul Fitr greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the royal family, and the Saudi people. He highlighted the urgent need for an end to hostilities, de-escalation, and unity among Muslim nations.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28 and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases across the Gulf, including Saudi territory. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia last year signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, under which an attack on either country is considered aggression against both.
