ISLAMABAD — Ishaq Dar on Tuesday emphasised the importance of diplomacy as he held separate meetings with senior diplomats to discuss the evolving regional situation, particularly rising tensions in the Middle East.

During a meeting with Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, the deputy prime minister stressed that dialogue remains the only viable path toward resolving ongoing conflicts. He highlighted the urgency of de-escalation and called for peaceful engagement to address growing instability in the region.

Both sides exchanged views on recent developments and agreed on the importance of maintaining close coordination amid shifting geopolitical dynamics. The discussions reflected shared concerns over the potential consequences of prolonged conflict and its impact on regional and global stability.
Earlier in the day, Dar also met with Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, where the two leaders held in-depth talks on bilateral relations and broader international developments.

The meeting reaffirmed the strength of the Pakistan-China relationship, often described as an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.” Both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation across multiple sectors and reiterated their commitment to further strengthening ties.
In addition to bilateral matters, the two officials discussed pressing regional and global challenges. Particular focus was placed on the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, with Dar again underscoring the need for diplomacy to prevent further escalation.
