Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq discuss de-escalation efforts

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday called for collective diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East. He stressed sustained dialogue is vital for regional peace, security, and stability. The calls involved his Turkish and Iraqi counterparts following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Dar spoke with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, reviewing recent regional developments and the temporary halt in hostilities announced by the US president. Both leaders highlighted the urgent need for continued diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation and maintain calm.

Earlier, Dar also held talks with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to assess the ongoing crisis. They expressed concern over the wider implications of the conflict for regional security and economic stability.

The Pakistani foreign minister emphasized that collective efforts, adherence to international law, and dialogue are essential to ensure lasting peace. He urged all parties to work together to prevent further instability and protect civilians affected by the conflict.

Dar exchanged Eid greetings with both counterparts, reflecting the importance of regional cooperation and goodwill amid tensions. The ministry underscored Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peaceful solutions and constructive engagement with neighboring countries.
