Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) will begin on March 26 as scheduled, but fans will not be allowed to attend, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced in Lahore. He said the league’s planning and consultations confirmed that postponement was not possible, as international players are involved and no alternative window is available.
Speaking at a press conference, Naqvi explained that the league will take place only in Karachi and Lahore. A revised schedule will minimize team movements between the two cities. He emphasized that PSL is an international brand, and holding the event on time was essential to maintain its credibility and commitments to players and sponsors.
Naqvi also confirmed that the opening ceremony has been canceled to reduce expenses. The PCB will handle all gate money payments for franchises directly. Fans who purchased tickets will be able to claim refunds, and the PCB expressed apologies for their absence at the stadiums.
The decision to hold PSL 11 without spectators underscores the PCB’s focus on safety while keeping the league on schedule. Matches will proceed in Karachi and Lahore under revised arrangements, ensuring the tournament begins on March 26 as planned, even though fans will have to watch from home.
