President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Prof Dr Hafeez Ur Rehman, has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to celebrate Eid with Palestinian refugees from Gaza and orphaned children, marking his third consecutive year of spending the occasion with those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
During his visit, Dr Rehman will attend a special luncheon held in honour of orphaned children from Gaza, where he will distribute Eid gifts among them. He is also scheduled to attend a dinner with members of the medical community and participate in various engagements related to relief efforts.
Speaking to the media before he departed from Islamabad Airport, Dr. Rehman said that Alkhidmat Foundation has been actively engaged in serving the people of Gaza since Oct 7, 2023. “As president of Alkhidmat, I have made it a priority to spend the joyous moments of Eid not with my family, but with orphaned children and displaced families in Gaza who have lost their loved ones,” he said.
“We may not be able to fully compensate for their losses, but by standing with them during Eid, we try to share their grief and bring some happiness into their lives, while continuing our relief efforts,” he added.
He further noted that the foundation is not only providing immediate relief but is also working on various rehabilitation initiatives in Gaza.
During his four-day visit, Dr. Rehman will meet with members of Alkhidmat’s camp office team in Cairo, as well as representatives of medical and relief organisations, government officials, and the Pakistani ambassador in Egypt, to further strengthen and expedite ongoing humanitarian operations for Gaza.
