The Sindh government has announced a 50 percent reduction in fuel for officials to address possible energy shortages. This austerity move affects all provincial departments and municipal institutions, aiming to conserve resources amid rising energy demands and financial pressures.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the provincial austerity committee, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials reviewed energy-efficient measures, government spending cuts, and administrative improvements to ensure disciplined resource management.

Under the new measures, municipal vehicles will also see a 50 percent fuel cut, and 60 percent of government vehicles will be immediately grounded. Secretaries have been instructed to submit daily reports on fuel use and vehicle compliance.
The committee has prepared detailed forms to track grounded vehicles and maintain accountability. Departments violating instructions risk vehicle seizure, ensuring strict enforcement and transparency in all provincial offices.

Minister Memon stressed that the policy will reduce fuel consumption without affecting public services. He urged departments to fully comply and highlighted the importance of energy conservation during challenging economic conditions.
