Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said on Thursday that Pakistan is acting as a “bridge builder” amid the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran. Islamabad maintains open channels of communication with Tehran, Riyadh, and other Gulf states to reduce tensions and promote dialogue.
The conflict began on February 28 with US and Israeli strikes on Iran, resulting in the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated against US assets and bases in Gulf countries, prompting a UN Security Council resolution on Wednesday to address the crisis.

PM Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar have actively engaged in diplomatic calls with relevant leaders. Andrabi said these communications allow Pakistan to maintain “a level of exchange” between conflicting parties. He emphasized that Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter is respected regionally.
Andrabi also noted that Pakistan continues high-level engagement with the US, including calls between the foreign secretary and the US under secretary of state. Dialogue is ongoing through both countries’ embassies, ensuring multiple diplomatic channels remain open to facilitate de-escalation.
