Pakistan army strikes Afghan Taliban posts, ammo depots destroyed

Published on: March 9, 2026 3:45 PM

The Pakistan Army has launched decisive air and ground operations against Afghan Taliban and extremist groups along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, targeting militants’ strongholds to prevent cross-border attacks and ensure regional security. Security sources said these operations are part of a broader strategy to neutralize threats and dismantle militant networks that have long exploited border areas.

In a key strike in Shawal near South Waziristan, Pakistani forces targeted a Taliban post, forcing militants to flee and then destroying the installation with explosives. Continuous operations are being carried out to eliminate hideouts, logistic hubs, and other military installations, disrupting militant planning and reducing their ability to launch attacks on Pakistani territory.

A significant operation in Paktika led to the destruction of an ammunition depot at Shahin Base, critically impairing Taliban operations and limiting their access to weapons and explosives. Officials confirmed that such strikes are carefully coordinated and aimed at minimizing collateral damage while maximizing the effectiveness of the campaign.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq remains ongoing, with Pakistani forces systematically neutralizing identified targets and ensuring that militant infrastructure along the border is thoroughly dismantled. Military authorities emphasized that operations will continue until all objectives are achieved and regional stability is fully restored.

Security analysts highlighted that these operations are crucial to preventing infiltration by Afghan Taliban factions and extremist groups into Pakistan, particularly in volatile border districts. Continuous monitoring, intelligence gathering, and precision strikes are central to maintaining pressure on militants and safeguarding border communities.

Officials have assured the public that Pakistan Army is committed to protecting national sovereignty and eliminating threats posed by cross-border militancy. The operations demonstrate a proactive approach to counterterrorism and highlight ongoing efforts to secure Pakistan’s western frontier.
