Abanking court on Thursday extended interim bail of two accused till March 25, in foreign funding case against PTI founder and others.
Banking Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar heard the case wherein the court extended the interim bail of accused Siraj Ahmed and Faisal Qazi.
The court, during hearing, also directed FIA directed to present case challan as soon as possible. The FIA prosecutor Wasiq Malik Advocate said that the challan is complete and will be submit to the court in one to two days. It took time that because a single challan is being prepared instead of supplementary.
He said that the challan has been completed up to the extent of two new accused in the case. The court also directed FIA to present complete arguments on the pre-arrest bail applications at the next hearing.
The court has previously approved the PTI founder’s bail application. The hearing of the PTI foreign funding case was adjourned until March 25.
Separately, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Thursday extended the physical remand of 48 accused by two days in a case related to a protest held after the death of an international religious figure.
Police produced the arrested individuals before the court and requested further custody for investigation. The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain.
During the proceedings, police requested an eight-day physical remand of the accused to continue the investigation and collect evidence related to the protest.
However, after reviewing the request and hearing the details presented by investigators, the court approved a two-day extension in the physical remand of the accused persons.
According to police officials, a total of 48 suspects were brought before the court in connection with the case. Investigators informed the court that the accused were taken into custody during action taken after the protest incident.
The case has been registered at Secretariat Police Station under sections related to terrorism and other charges. Police stated that the suspects are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Following the court order, the accused were handed back to police custody for further interrogation.
