Home minister, mayor and IG review Karachi security, traffic flow

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, accompanied by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Inspector General of Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho, conducted a detailed visit to various areas of Karachi to review security arrangements and traffic flow across the city. During the visit, the Home Minister also inspected the vicinity of the United States Consulate, where the IG Sindh briefed the Home Minister on the prevailing security situation and measures taken to maintain law and order, The Sindh Home Minister expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and also mourned the loss of lives during the recent situation that emerged in Karachi. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He appealed to citizens to remain peaceful and maintain calm. On Sunday, the Home Minister and the Mayor visited the Saddar area, inspecting key roads including I.I. Chundrigar Road and M.A. Jinnah Road. Market visits were also conducted where price control lists were checked, and officials were directed to strictly ensure implementation of government-notified prices. The Home Minister emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens during the holy month of Ramadan remains the government’s top priority. He directed authorities to ensure foolproof security arrangements throughout the city and instructed police and traffic officials to remain on high alert, particularly before iftar timings, to maintain smooth traffic flow and provide maximum relief to the public. He stated that providing a safe and peaceful environment to citizens is the responsibility of the state and affirmed that the rule of law would be upheld under all circumstances. Speaking on the occasion, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that municipal and security institutions are fully mobilized during Ramadan. He added that clear instructions have been issued to all relevant departments to improve traffic management and facilitate citizens, warning that any mismanagement during iftar hours would not be tolerated. He stressed that a joint strategy is being implemented to maintain peace and stability in Karachi. Meanwhile, the Sindh Home Minister reiterated his deep grief over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing heartfelt sorrow over the loss of human lives and prayers for the injured. He also expressed regret over the incident that occurred outside the US Consulate and urged citizens to demonstrate patience and restraint in view of the prevailing national situation. He further called upon religious scholars to play their role in promoting harmony, understanding, and peace, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property at all costs.
