Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed all relevant institutions at the federal and provincial levels to immediately ensure comprehensive and effective security measures in view of the prevailing situation.
The premier chaired a high-level review meeting on the overall security situation in the country.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that all institutions must discharge their responsibilities with mutual coordination and complete harmony.
The Prime Minister was informed that all security agencies are on alert in light of the current situation and that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security.
In view of the situation in Iran, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take all necessary steps to ensure the safe repatriation of Pakistanis in Iran.
He further said that Pakistani nationals should be brought back safely to Pakistan via Azerbaijan.
In this regard, the Prime Minister further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately contact the government of Azerbaijan.
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stated that the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces stand fully prepared at all times to safeguard the country’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He stated, “Under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Armed Forces of Pakistan are performing their duties in the best possible manner with national spirit and dedication.”
The prime minister said, “The entire nation salutes the sacrifices being rendered by the security forces in the war against terrorism.”
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, the Chief Secretaries of all four provinces, Inspector General of Police, and other relevant senior officials.
