The statement came after Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in response to what officials described as unprovoked firing from across the border overnight. The FO said the military action was carried out after repeated militant attacks against Pakistan, which it said were planned and launched from Afghan soil.

According to the FO, Pakistan’s armed forces conducted precise strikes on February 26, targeting logistical bases and infrastructure linked to militant groups. The statement claimed that the operation inflicted heavy losses on terrorist outfits, reinforcing Pakistan’s position that the action was taken in exercise of its right to self-defence and to ensure the safety of its citizens.
The FO referred to Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan as militant threats responsible for destabilising Pakistan’s security environment. It urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to take concrete steps to prevent such groups from using Afghan territory to carry out attacks.
While issuing the warning, the FO emphasised that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability and has consistently pursued diplomatic engagement to address security concerns. However, it expressed regret that Pakistan’s goodwill efforts had not resulted in meaningful action against militant groups.

The FO also called on the international community to play its role in ensuring that the Afghan authorities fulfil their obligations to prevent terrorist activity from their territory. It reiterated that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures under international law, including the UN Charter, to defend its sovereignty and protect its people from security threats.
