Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused the Taliban of turning Afghanistan into an Indian proxy hub. He said Pakistan’s armed forces are delivering a decisive response to alleged cross-border aggression. The remarks heighten tensions and directly affect regional security and diplomatic relations.
Asif said expectations for peace in Afghanistan faded after the NATO withdrawal. He claimed the Taliban failed to prioritize Afghan public welfare and regional stability. Instead, he alleged they allowed militant elements to regroup and operate from Afghan territory. He further accused them of exporting terrorism to neighboring countries, including Pakistan.

Moreover, the defence minister said Pakistan tried to normalize relations through direct and friendly diplomatic channels. However, he alleged those efforts did not yield results. He claimed the Taliban aligned themselves with Indian interests, increasing security concerns for Islamabad. Consequently, Pakistan’s military responded firmly to what he described as recent aggression attempts.
Asif praised the Pakistan Army for what he called a decisive and professional response. He stated that the armed forces remain fully prepared to defend national sovereignty. He warned that patience had reached its limit and future hostility would face strong retaliation.
