The Senate of Pakistan on Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution strongly rejecting recent remarks attributed to Israel, expressing deep concern over narratives perceived to threaten the unity of the Muslim Ummah. The resolution, moved by Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan on behalf of all parties, emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to upholding international law and protecting Palestinian rights. Lawmakers criticised actions undermining regional stability and stressed that provocative statements could escalate tensions across the Middle East.
The House explicitly condemned Israel’s policies, citing violations of international law, the UN Charter, United Nations resolutions, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. It rejected any attempts to alter the legal or historical status of occupied Palestinian territories, including holy sites, while denouncing settlement expansion and displacement of Palestinians. Lawmakers highlighted the urgent need to address these provocations to safeguard regional and international peace.

The Senate also rejected Israel’s reported recognition of Somaliland’s independence, calling it inconsistent with established international principles. Members condemned any actions undermining the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Islamic nations, stressing that unilateral steps violating international norms cannot be tolerated. The resolution underlined Pakistan’s principled stance in opposing measures that compromise the rights and dignity of Muslim-majority countries.
Pakistan’s Senate urged the international community to ensure accountability for violations of humanitarian and human rights law and to end impunity for actions against Palestinians. Lawmakers called for full Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories and emphasised the importance of sustained, unimpeded humanitarian assistance, particularly for residents of Gaza. The House also stressed early recovery, reconstruction efforts, and long-term support for affected communities.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s historic position, the resolution underscored support for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine. The proposed state would be based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, ensuring international recognition and security for Palestinians. Senators highlighted that Pakistan’s commitment remains unwavering, consistent with decades of diplomatic advocacy.
The unanimous passage of this resolution reflects Pakistan’s continued focus on promoting justice, peace, and legal adherence in international affairs. It sends a strong message that violations against Palestinians and provocative actions by Israel will not go unnoticed and reinforces Islamabad’s diplomatic and humanitarian priorities in the region.
