Under the scheme, 116,000 electric motorcycles will receive subsidies this year, with each bike receiving Rs80,000. Electric rickshaws will also be supported with a subsidy of Rs400,000 per vehicle. Mansoor highlighted that the cost of electric motorcycles under the initiative is Rs50,000 to Rs60,000 lower than comparable market models, making them more accessible to the public. The government aims to distribute 76,000 motorcycles by June 2026.
Eligibility criteria require applicants to be Pakistani citizens aged 18–65, holding a valid driving license or learner’s permit for motorcycles. Students must also provide a valid student ID or admission proof. Other required documents include CNIC copies, passport-size photographs, and bank account details.
Mansoor emphasised that the program operates on a fully automated system, ensuring transparency and efficient processing. He added that electric motorcycles not only reduce environmental pollution but also help users save up to Rs8,000 per month in fuel costs, highlighting both economic and ecological benefits.
