Pakistan, UK pledge stronger strategic bilateral partnership

Ishaq Dar met with Yvette Cooper on the sidelines of a United Nations Security Council session, where both leaders reviewed the full scope of Pakistan-UK relations. During the meeting, Dar thanked the British foreign secretary for convening an important discussion on Palestine. The leaders agreed that sustained dialogue and practical cooperation remain essential to strengthening diplomatic ties.

Both sides conducted a detailed assessment of bilateral engagement in political, economic, and multilateral spheres, highlighting the positive trajectory of relations. They agreed to further enhance cooperation across trade, investment, education, and security sectors. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of regular high-level exchanges to maintain momentum in strategic collaboration. The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional partnerships through structured dialogue mechanisms.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the value of strong people-to-people connections between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, particularly through the large Pakistani diaspora. The two ministers noted that cultural and educational exchanges play a crucial role in building long-term trust. They also agreed to continue effective coordination at the United Nations on key global issues. Both sides stressed that multilateral cooperation strengthens their shared commitment to international peace and stability.

Separately, Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. The two leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and reviewed progress in ongoing cooperation initiatives. They also discussed outcomes of the recent Board of Peace meeting held in Washington. Both ministers agreed to maintain close contact to advance shared diplomatic and strategic objectives.

Overall, these diplomatic engagements reflect Pakistan’s proactive approach to strengthening international partnerships and expanding cooperation with key global players. By reinforcing ties with the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan, Islamabad aims to promote economic growth, regional stability, and constructive multilateral engagement. Officials believe consistent dialogue and coordinated action will help address common challenges while opening new avenues for collaboration in the future.
