No talks to move Imran Khan abroad: Asif

Published on: February 20, 2026 11:30 PM

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif says there has never been any discussion about moving PTI founder Imran Khan abroad or to Bani Gala. This matters as rumors had circulated in political and media circles, affecting public perception. The clarification directly impacts PTI supporters, political analysts, and the media narrative.

Asif dismissed reports as market-driven rumors, suggesting they were spread to keep political attention and “open the store” of speculation. He added that while Imran Khan may have been approached regarding certain facilities, no formal deal or relocation plan exists.

The minister also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, saying his job is at risk. He claimed the provincial leader announced the “Rehayi Force” to save his position, calling it unconstitutional and illegal. Asif emphasized that only the federal government has authority to establish any official force.

Khawaja Asif praised US President Donald Trump for commending Pakistan’s political and military leadership. He noted that Trump acknowledged the strength of the Pakistan Army and the field marshal’s capabilities during an international gathering. Asif described Prime Minister’s recent visit to the US as highly successful for Pakistan’s diplomatic standing.

Regarding the Gaza Peace Board, the minister said commitments were made to resettle Palestinians. He expressed optimism that Gaza would be rebuilt and repopulated by Palestinian communities, describing the initiative as a positive step toward regional stability.

Asif’s remarks aim to clarify misinformation surrounding Imran Khan’s status and reassure the public about federal authority. He highlighted ongoing diplomatic engagement with the US and support for Palestinian recovery efforts as indicators of Pakistan’s proactive foreign and domestic policy.
