US lauds Pakistan’s Gaza peace support

US appreciates Pakistan’s Gaza peace support as Islamabad joins Board of Peace in Washington. The development strengthens bilateral ties and expands cooperation in security and economic sectors. The move directly impacts Pakistan-US relations and regional diplomacy efforts.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed appreciation after meeting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He confirmed that Pakistan joined the Board of Peace to advance diplomatic efforts on Gaza. The announcement followed talks held on the sidelines of the board’s inaugural session.

In a statement shared on X, Rubio highlighted discussions on strategic partnership. He said both sides reviewed cooperation in counter-terrorism and development of critical minerals. The meeting reflected growing engagement between Islamabad and Washington. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar thanked Rubio for the discussions. He said Pakistan valued its longstanding relationship with the United States.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both sides expressed satisfaction over improving ties. They agreed to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Furthermore, they underscored the importance of continued high-level engagement. Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to support implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan. He also congratulated US leadership on launching the Board of Peace initiative.

Speaking at the inaugural session, US President Donald Trump described the Board of Peace as historic. He said the initiative aimed to achieve lasting peace despite complex challenges in Gaza. Trump called it the most consequential board ever assembled. Previously, Sharif had welcomed Trump’s peace proposal, stressing durable peace between Palestinians and Israel remains essential for regional stability.
