The moment occurred during the Honhaar Scholarship and laptop distribution event, where the chief minister addressed students and announced educational support initiatives. During the ceremony, a student recited a stanza expressing admiration for Maryam Nawaz, saying that having a chief minister stand behind students was the greatest reassurance they could receive.
In response, Maryam Nawaz embraced the visibly emotional student and then stood directly behind her, symbolically reinforcing the message of support. She later placed her chin lightly on the student’s shoulder in a friendly gesture, prompting applause and cheers from the audience.
Speaking at the event, the chief minister told attendees that the youth of Punjab were not alone and that the provincial government would stand by them. “The children of Punjab are not alone. Their chief minister stands behind them like a rock,” she said, emphasising her administration’s focus on education, scholarships and youth empowerment.
