Sri Lanka removes Pakistan from visa watchlist

Published on: February 17, 2026 3:45 PM

Sri Lanka has removed Pakistan from all negative visa lists following a meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The decision eases travel restrictions for Pakistani citizens and signals improved bilateral ties. The move also paves the way for stronger cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Naqvi raised concerns about visa difficulties faced by Pakistani nationals. In response, President Dissanayake ordered authorities to immediately remove Pakistan from all restrictive visa categories. Officials described the step as a major relief for Pakistani travellers and the business community. The announcement was made shortly after high-level talks concluded.
