Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that Jamaat-e-Islami had already been informed that they would not be allowed to enter the red zone and were instructed to protest peacefully. Despite this, Jamaat-e-Islami workers entered the red zone and pelted stones. In a statement, he said that the Sindh Police and local administration were in contact with Jamaat-e-Islami, but the workers attempted to enter the Sindh Assembly. Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi had no right to take the law into its own hands. He added that ordinary citizens suffer due to road closures, noting that Jamaat-e-Islami sometimes blocks Shahrah-e-Faisal and at other times attempts to enter the assembly. He said that the government is willing to hold talks, but Jamaat-e-Islami must show restraint in its conduct, as it is pursuing politics of chaos and has caused serious problems in eight towns of Karachi.
