Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced it will formally demand former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s extradition from India. The move matters because Hasina faces a death sentence for crimes against humanity. This action directly affects Hasina, India, and Bangladesh’s political and legal landscape.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a BNP leader elected from Cox’s Bazar-1, told reporters the party will legally press India for her return. He emphasized that the extradition request follows Bangladesh’s legal framework and court rulings. BNP plans to coordinate closely with Bangladesh’s foreign ministry on this matter.
