
Pakistan and Bangladesh are exploring the launch of a ferry service and a direct shipping line to strengthen trade and tourism, signaling renewed efforts to enhance economic ties between the neighboring countries.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry met Bangladesh’s High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan in Islamabad to discuss maritime cooperation and ways to improve bilateral economic collaboration through better connectivity.

Chaudhry emphasized that a ferry service would significantly increase tourism and trade activities, providing new opportunities for businesses, travelers, and the transport sector, while also promoting regional economic stability.
He added that establishing a direct shipping line between Pakistan and Bangladesh would give fresh momentum to bilateral trade, facilitating smoother cargo movement, reducing logistics costs, and opening new markets for local products.

Both officials expressed strong commitment to elevating maritime cooperation and expanding trade collaboration, highlighting the importance of transforming historical ties into a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership for the region.
