Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Captain Colonel Sher Khan Sports Ground and Family Park project in Pakhtoonabad, Manghopir Town, District West.
Addressing the ceremony, the Mayor said that this is an important project for the promotion of sports in District West and providing quality sports facilities to youth is a top priority of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
He stated that the total cost of the project will be Rs 186.994 million, including Rs 82.54 million allocated for civil and architectural works, Rs 26.73 million for landscaping, Rs 45.98 million for electrification, Rs 12.29 million for engineering facilities, and Rs 2.18 million for underground and water supply works, while public health and plumbing works are also part of the project.
He said the sports ground will be spread over 14,730 square yards, where separate facilities for football and cricket will be provided. The project also includes an eight-foot-wide jogging track, plantation, reconstruction of the boundary wall and main gate, construction of a new pavilion, and parking facilities, including ample parking space for motorcycles and cars.
He added that the family park will be established on an area of approximately 2,705 square yards, featuring a jogging track, green areas, gazebos, seating benches, and a children’s play area, along with installation of streetlights and park lights.
